I mean catch-up...

As I'm sure you've figured out... We're Married!
Actually yesterday was our 1 month anniversary. It feels likes yesterday. It was amazing and if you'd like to see more you can visit our AmAzING photographer's blog. We were also featured on Once Wed and our uber talented wedding planner has something else up her sleeve... fingers crossed.

Anywho, to describe my feelings over the last ewww 6 months, I will just say it's been a ride.

Kind of like a fly stuck on the windshield of a car driving 80 miles per hour down the freeway.

So much CHANGE, all for the good though. We're loving life and everything that's being thrown our way. Let's just say there's no end in sight...
well maybe...
in like 2 years.

Mr.R has accepted a GREAT job with an AWESOME company and we will be heading to Vermont next week. We'll be moving every six months for the next 2 years. Which means I will be doing A LOT of styling, every six months to be exact, which excites me.

I hope to document our journey here.

It's very bittersweet to know that we are putting 12 hours between us and our family and friends, but we know that this is the opportunity of a lifetime and we've diving in head first.

I like nights when I come home from work and dinner is ready in 30

I don't know about you but it seems there is never enough time in the day to get everything done

And boy does the evening FLY by

This ones quick, easy, and YUMMO!

I fried up some hamburger

And made my own Sloppy Joe mix

with a little Ketchup, brown sugar, and yellow mustard

I used canned biscuits and pushed them down into a muffin pan

forming a little pocket of dough

Then I spooned the sloppy joe mixture into the biscuit pockets

Sprinkled some cheddar cheese on top

And popped them in the oven at 350 degrees for 15 mins

Waahhhlaa....

Debunking the MYTHS

Back when I got engaged (August 1, 2009) I thought for a (brief) moment about the amount of work that would be involved. I thought about all the decisions I would be making, the fun I would have making them, and how beautiful it would be in the end.

But what I didn't think much about was the memories that would be made along the way. After all this is a journey. I never imagined the opportunities I would have through the wedding planning process or the ideas that would pop in to my brain.

As many of you know, who have read this blog, my mom and I are BF's. We've always been close. Yes, we have the occasional mother-daughter spat but for the most part we see eye to eye. However, the thought of planning a wedding with your mother- your best friend, sounded kind of scary.

Every piece of advice I'd been given and everything I'd heard was the dreaded "Be prepared for the knock down drag out with your mom," a thought that quite honestly made me want to RUN very quickly to Vegas.

I'm here to debunk the myths girls, it can be done. It's possible to plan the wedding of your dreams and avoid severing the mother- daughter relationship. The conflict can be avoided. Yes, we're still roughly 3 months out, but I have to tell you, we've not once had the knock down drag out. I could NOT do this without her.

When our vintage rental vendor ditched us and I totally panicked, became BRIDEZILLA, mom and Liz convinced me we could handle it; we'd scout out everything we were planning to rent and we'd buy it. S.I.M.P.L.E. YEAH RIGHT!! It would be ours to KEEP.

I could never have imagined how much fun mom and I would have junkin'. We've made many trips and found some AMAZING pieces. I can't wait to share pics.

Thanks mom for all that you've done to make this EXACTLY what I want and more fun than I could ever have imagined. I appreciate it more than you'll ever know.

We had a nice trip to Charleston this weekend

It was quick.

I think we spent the same amount of time in the car as we did in Charleston.

These are the doors to the beach house we'll be renting the week of the wedding.

We met up with the girls (Liz and Meg) at Starbucks

early Saturday morning to knock out some final details.

I managed to sneak in enough time to get my hair and make-up done.

A little trial run for the wedding.

I feel really silly in this picture.

I usually don't wear much make-up so I feel very "done up" so to speak.

Not to mention I am in SERIOUS need of a tan!

I'm not 100% positive I'll follow through with this look for the wedding day.

We shall see.

I thought I was going to escape the snow at least for the weekend.

I thought WRONG!

I've been meaning to write...

On Tuesday I put a post-it (LOVE those btw) in my planner that read "had one of those days" little did I know it would turn into one of those weeks. My purpose of leaving myself a little note was to jog my memory...( ya know even though I'm young and all I still have frequent lapses of memory... not quite sure what that's all about I just continue to pretend it's normal)

Anywho, you can now see why I have to leave myself post-its...

I left myself a note so that I would remember to write.

Often during the day, things come up (in my mind that is) and I think, I need to write.

I had one of those days on Tuesday, you know the ones where everything seems real peachy and then the next thing you know you're in a tailspin... well that happened, and little did I know that it would turn into one of those weeks.

The crazy kind.

You see, I've been a tad busy lately trying to pin down wedding details, being a good employee, getting this body into shape; and in doing all that, I've started pondering about what the next few months will hold and how drastically my life could change.

I started thinking about what it is exactly I want out of life...

this is a big questions ya know...

that leads to other big questions

the scary kind.

And to be honest I haven't really put much thought into them. I'm the type of person that just goes with the flow, or at least I think I do, maybe I should ask Mr. R his opinion on that...

I try to be happy with whatever life brings my way... not to say that I'm not a planner and driven

but those big questions kept lingering and I started pondering about what really makes happy, what I love, what I could live with and what I could NOT live without. How (in a perfect world... which I know is not reality but a girl can dream right?!?!?) I would envision our life in 5+ years.

So I'm asking......

Give me your best LIFE advice.

What did you do right?

What do you wish you would have done differently? or better?

How is it being a grown up?

I'd kind of like to be a kid forever and let my parents take care of me....

It was even pink and chippy... just perfect!

Thanksgiving In Your Mouth

I don't know about you but it seems Thanksgiving has crept up on me. I think maybe it's because I've been preoccupied or maybe it's just because everyone seems to start celebrating Christmas October 31st.

Don' t get me wrong, I LOVE Christmas but Thanksgiving is so enjoyable. It just seems like a lot less stress.

A Beautiful Place

We had a great trip.

Meeting Liz and her AweSoME assistant Meg was exactly as I'd imagined.

We were all fast friends.

They get me. They love crusty vintage goodness as much as I do.

They don't miss a thing and I'm so thankful they see the big picture.

The natural beauty of this place is stunning.

I get giddy envisioning it on our wedding day.

We also got to do some site-seeing and shopping
(stick around for some vintage goodness).

We did quite a bit of walking.

But who minds that when your in a GORGEOUS city.

We also visited an amazing bakery.

These are the lovely ladies from Back In The Day.

The owner, Cheryl, in the middle, is such a sweetie.

This place is a must-see/visit if you're ever in Savannah.

And Boy do they make a mighty GoOd cupcake.

Just A Big Little Kid

Yes, It's true. In less than 7 months I will be a married woman. I know, I know, I've not posted much detail about the wedding lately. To be completely honest, I feel a little disconnected. I am super excited to get married. I'm excited to walk down the aisle in front of friends and family and see my best friend waiting for me... To spend the rest of our lives together. However, I feel disconnected. Disconnected from the planning process. I always thought I would be the annoying, frantic, nervous, anxious, obsessed bride-to-be.

I don't think I'm there.

It's all just a little bittersweet.

The planning process is bittersweet.

As many of you know Mr.R's mother passed away a little less than a month ago. I know, if she were here, the rehearsal dinner would be planned, she'd already have an awesomely cute dress picked out for Cait and she'd have an abundance of honeymoon options just waiting on silly ole me to give my input. She was very much a planner. Organized beyond belief. She would be so excited for our upcoming trip to Charleston.

But, she won't be joining us.

At least not physically.

I know she'll be there in spirit though.

Although I'm disappointed and saddened she couldn't be here with us, she gave me a very special gift...

Her son.

A "Big" little kid that I will get to call my hubby.

A man, who in all his childlike wonder takes a running slide down my hallway,

who cannonballs into bed,

who sings like the "song bird of his generation,"

who dances in the middle of the living room until I acknowledge his actions,

who makes me laugh and see the good in all situations regardless of the outcome.

I'm thankful that he'll be by my side...

In a time when it is very difficult to find something to smile about, something to rejoice over, something to accept, my sweet 13 year old sister-in-law to be continues to be cheerful, because that is who she is and what she knows.

She knows not what tomorrow holds, or what yesterday held, only what she is given TODAY. She walks with blind faith, trusting.

Although I cannot forsee the road ahead, I will trust you lord, with blind faith, just like Cait, because you hold the master plan. I will face each day with a renewed spirit, remembering not, yesterdays challenges, or anticipating tomorrows triumphs, for today is what you have given me; an opportunity to live in the moment.

1. One of my all time favorite jobs was working as a teachers aid at my church daycare the summer before my freshman year of college. I had a class of eight 3 and 4 year olds and adored each and every one of them. I secretly can't wait to me a mom :)

2. When I was six years old I was hospitalized for 2 1/2 weeks due to an infected lymph node in my neck. They removed the lymph node and I ended up with septicemia. It was a very traumatic experience. To this day I am terrified of Doctors and needles.

3. Due to my phobia of needles I recently passed out while getting a shot at the family doctor.... EMBARRASSING!

4. I am marrying the love of my life in 247 days.

5. My mom is my best friend. We talk 2 or 3 times a day at least. I don't know what I would do without her.

6. I want to become a better christian.

7. Apparently I do this really weird thing with my chin... My mom and Mr. R say it looks like a chicken gobbler. I think it must be a nervous habit along with nail biting.

8. I shave my legs everyday, I know it takes a lot of time but I can't stand that scratchy feeling.

9. I drive a standard, always have... My next car however will not be a standard and it will have heated leather seat!! :)

10. I've moved every year for the past five years so I am looking forward to getting married and settling down.

I know I was only supposed to give you 10 but.... I was not elected Homecoming Queen by my small high school of roughly 500 people. However my dear friend Kasey, who goes by many names.... uhhhmmm hmmm tooth fairy was.

I found the girl's dresses this week.
I was so excited when I stumbled upon them while browsing the Ann Taylor website.
Who knew Ann Taylor had a bridesmaid line?!?!
The best part....
They were under $70
My maid of honor will be wearing a different dress than my three bridesmaids.
They are both adorable!

As I mentioned in my previous post, my mom and I went wedding dress shopping this weekend. Much to my surprise I found "the one."

After trying on dozens of dresses I put it on and fell in love... You know, the it fits like a glove, is exactly what I imagined, got to have it, kind of love.

I can't give away all the details so I will leave you with the link to the designers website. All the gowns are GORGEOUS!! Looking through the website I see quite a few that I tried on, and quite a few I did not, regardless they are all lovely and I found "the one."

Have you ever had your car stolen?

This weekend my mom came up for a visit. She drove 2 1/2 hours to spend the weekend with me.

We had appointments in a nearby city to try on wedding dresses. The boys (all the boys on my dads side of the family met at the lake in NC for my grandpa's birthday/fishing trip) They had a great time, made lots of memories, and I'm sure will have lots of stories to tell come Thanksgiving.

I digress

All Sounds fun right?!? Well it was. For the boys the whole weekend was fun. For my mom and I, the fun ended Sunday about 11:15 AM.

Until that point, mom and I had been running around town looking for a piece of furniture to sit my T.V. on. Without much luck we decided it was lunch time and we would go pick up my cousin's girlfriend for lunch. She too was left home alone for the weekend as her man was part of the big Birthday Bash.

We head over to pick up "M" from her apartment. Park, run upstairs, look at her new apartment, pet their new dog, and proceed to the car. Did I ever mention I live in a college town?? Didn't think so... This is an important part of this story.

So...We get down the stairs, the car is GONE!!!!! Did you hear me GONE!!! Oh my sweet Jesus, I know I skipped church today, but are you serious... My Car???? Gone...

Panic stricken.. I run down the hill... Did I forget to pull the E-brake and it rolled? Surely Not!!

Who would take my car... oh wait... I live in a college town...

And yes... Both my mom and I's purses, in the front seat... Yep you read that right... DUMB!!!!

I call 911, tell them the car is stolen, they don't care, they say I have to call every towing company in town to verify it hasn't been towed. We call the towing company listed on their parking lot... Nope... She's says they don't have it...

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!

We drive very quickly to the State Police barracks. They graciously offer to help. In the meantime my mom is calling and canceling our credit/debit cards.... The police make some phone calls, they say they've located my car.

THANK YOU LORD FOR ANSWERED PRAYERS!!!

We drive really quickly to the towing company, no one is there, remember... it is a Sunday!

While we wait on the driver... roughly errr 20 minutes... we look at my car through the gates...

OMG they've dented the front of my car.... OH THEY ARE SO PAYING FOR THIS.... We rant and rave about this for a few....

Then I keep looking....wait a second...

My car doesn't have a licenses plate on the front. I press the panic button on my keys....

nothing....

THIS IS NOT MY CAR!!!!

Someone stole my car, I knew it!

We drive to the city Police Station, drop my mom off, find somewhere to park, get inside.The Officer gives me a list of license plate numbers, I locate mine, we call home, have my grandma run to our house to get the vin # off an insurance statement, we verify the number.

The officer calls the towing companys locates "my" car, not the one they "thought" was mine, we drive to pick it up. Yep, the first place we called, besides 911 of course had my car the WHOLE TIME!!!

This entire situation could have been avoided!

Honestly, the tow truck driver had to have been watching my mom and I, We were in "M's" apartment no longer than 10 mins.

Robbery.

Luce, traveled across the country, nearly 2400 miles in 3 days, and arrived on my doorstep Saturday afternoon. It was so good to see her! One of the sweetest girls I know, Tara , sent her to me as an engagement gift. She couldn't have arrived at a better time, as she was used in a photo shoot my brother did for Mr. R and myself that evening.

Today my very talented and adventurous little brother left for college.

He's a runner, avid fly fisherman, aspiring writer, and talented photographer.

I couldn't be more proud to be his Big Sis

And although my parents will miss having him around the house

He'll be in his element at school

near plenty of trout streams, close to numerous state parks and mountain bike trails, and running for a great coach.

Congrats My lil' Nater and best of luck!

These beautiful buds came out of the garden at Mr. R's parents house.

They happend to be out of town at the beach when I snipped them....

Yes... you can call me a flower thief...

I promise I cut them from the bottom of the bush....

you can't even tell I touched it...hehe

The awesome vintage milk jug dating back to the 1800's came from Goodwill for $1...

A Family of Crocs

WARNING: The title and picture having nothing to do with the post... well not really...I guess I could be creative and think of some way to tie it all together but the juices are running low tonight

I've had a lot of time to think lately...
Six hours in the car makes for a great opportunity.

Sometimes it's easy to get wrapped up in the day-to-day of life...
I find myself living for the weekend these days...
Normally I work all week and come home to be with the family on the weekends.

I am so thankful for such a great support network, my family!
My mom is my best friend... yes occassionally we fight like sisters... or mother & daughter
But it is so nice to have someone that just gets you... someone who knows your strengths, weaknesses, insecurities, goals, ambitions, fears, failures, and triumphs....
Thanks Mom for being my best friend!

I am so thankful for parents who have loved and supported me through the years and even though I am an adult... or so I think...hehe... have made their home, my home, a place I always want to come back to... a place I have always felt a part of... and one day want my kids to be a part of....

I am so thankful for my support network. Mom, Dad, Nater, Mr.R... Thank You for making me always feel right at home, for loving me for who I am, and for sharing this journey... our life... with me. Love you guys!
